Niche Marketing Success Story

– Posted in: Biz Booster Success Stories

In a recent Biz Booster Hot Tip:  Creating Your Own Niche Market, I shared some ideas about how you might discover the benefits of booking performances in a specific niche. Right after that Biz Booster ran, I received a wonderful success story from a Booking & Touring course student. Sharman Petri describes how her artist, Gabrielle Louise, has tapped into her niche market to expand her bookings. Here’s her story: “I thought I’d relay a quick success story that ties in with this week’s niche booking Biz Booster.   I book performing songwriter, Gabrielle Louise. In the past eighteen months and over 50,000 tour miles,  Gabrielle has spared the atmosphere of over 11 tons of CO2 while saving over $9,000 in would-be fuel costs by touring in a waste vegetable oil powered van.  As a team, we decided to have Gabrielle present alternative fuel workshops to colleges and universities as an added value to her concerts. It’s been a great success with workshop and concert combos presented thus far at the following:

  • Univ. of Nebraska, Lincoln NE
  • Univ. of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls IA
  • Iowa State Univ., Ames IA
  • Univ. of Northern Colorado, Greeley CO
  • Montana State Univ., Bozeman MT
  • Willamette Univ., Salem OR
  • Linfield College, McMinnville OR

We have many more of these combos in the works at educational institutions as well as environmental organizations. Everyone is a winner. The various organizations receive both an educational and entertainment value for one price point and we receive more money for each gig. It’s also very timely especially with the catastrophic Gulf oil spill that will have a tremendous impact both economically and environmentally for some time to come. All the best, Sharman Petri Gradient Light Entertainment The Gabrielle Louise Show. If you have a booking and touring success story, I’d love to hear about it. Please share your comments.
