Recipes for the Road

– Posted in: Restaurant Reviews for Tasty Tours

As I launch my new blog, one area of interest to me, and I’m sure to any touring artist, is where to get a good meal while on tour. For me, finding great restaurants, whether fine dining or digging in at a cool local dive-good food makes any travel much more fun. Being on tour, whether across continents or town, there are always food stops,  so, why not make your next stop at one that comes highly recommended by a fellow touring artist. I’ll post some of my favorites, and I hope you’ll do the same. I’ll offer up restaurants from my travels as well as from my hometown, since it is a great music town in the southeast, perfectly positioned between popular touring routes going from Nashville to Washington DC. I hope you’ll share some of your favorites from your road tours as well as from your home town. From time to time, I’ll also share some actual recipes that make for great meals to take on the road with you. Then I’ll mix it all up with some touring tips to help you boost your career and your touring savvy. So, to get the ball rolling here’s my first restaurant review from my recent trip to Florida. Season’s 52 With six locations around Florida, two in Atlanta, one in California and one in New Jersey, this is one of my new favorite restaurants. Serving mostly organic based dishes, they have managed to create a menu that is health conscious, unique, and absolutely delicious. The entire menu is based on dishes that have no more than 457 calories, yet you’ll find dishes like Grilled Quail Breast or  Mediterranean Lamb Gyro Flatbread. On one occasion, for dinner, I had the Wood-Roasted Pork Tenderloin on Soft Corn Polenta, Fresh Leaf Spinach, Cremini mMushrooms and Sherry Glaze. Returning for a luncheon on this same trip, I chose the special Mahi-Mahi, Haricot Verts and Jasmin rice. Many of my dining companions enjoyed the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad with spinach, chick peas, roasted peppers, cucumber and Feta cheese. This was served up in a tall clear canister which the server lifted with a flourish and in doing so tossed the salad onto the plate. All greeted the experience with plenty of oo’s and ah’s as the amazing salad was revealed. All dishes were reasonably priced, beautifully presented in a very calm dining ambiance that had a Frank Llyod Wright, Asian/fusion architectural serenity. Plenty of booths were available to fit a large touring entourage or a cozy duo. This Florida venue had lake-side window tables and outdoor patio dining. With multiple locations, a variety of menu styles from fancy to Vegan to Vegetarian, Season’s 52 just might be a perfect tour stop when you feel like treating yourself to a great meal and want a break from fast food. It’s casual dining with a flare for great, healthy, interesting food. Check it out. http://www.Seasons52.com/
