"Our weekend with you was extremely productive and
helped view things in a completely new light. We have been busy putting some of the ideas
into motion. We made the suggested changes to our press kit, had an interview with KET,
dinner with a promoter here in Lexington and scheduled a photo shoot. Whew! Thanks, once
again, for opening your beautiful home to us, preparing us wonderful meals and sharing
your ideas with us."
Amy & Daniel Carwile, Champion Fiddlers and String Instrument Instructors
"Your home is ultimately comfortable, aesthetically
pleasing and the food was surreally good. (The best apple pie I've had). The company
couldn't have been better. I feel like I have a good grasp on the next several steps to
take."
Debbie Hunter, Musician, Choir Director, Former Baker, C&O Restaurant
Personal Project Retreat
Working on your next album, theater piece, book or project and need a quiet, creative environment
in which to work? Stays of up to one week (7 days) are available with gourmet meals arranged to suit
your work habits and needs. A one-hour consult each day is included to discuss your career or current
project. This retreat is open to one person or a two person team.
JOIN ME AT THE LAKE...
Join me at my home and allow me to share my passion for fine foods and wine along with my
30 plus years of music and performing arts industry experience with you. I will be preparing all
the meals using the finest, freshest, seasonal ingredients from local organic farms, to re-create
some of my favorite recipes from some of my favorite notable, world-class chefs. Dinners, breakfasts
and lunches and a parting brunch are all included. Here at the lake we always mix a good dose of
fun with our hard work, so bring comfortable clothes and swimsuit, and if weather permits,
there are bikes available to ride or you can walk or run around the lake or even take a swim
during open time.
"You fed me mind, body and soul. I feel armed with the knowledge I
need to sustain a successful music career. You exceeded my expectations and met my needs. Thank
You!"
Telisha Williams, Singer/Songwriter
ABOUT the LAKE and HOUSE...
Lake Monticello is a man-made lake, 2 1/2 miles long and a 12 1/2 mile drive around. There
are tennis courts, a PGA golf course and 5 lovely beaches. Beach 5 is 1/2 mile from the house
and is the most private. The house is set on a 1/2 acre lot at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac.
With good weather, we can enjoy some of our meals and workshop sessions on the deck overlooking
the creek, the woods and the wildlife.
A PLACE of HISTORY, CULTURE and LEARNING...
Charlottesville, VA and the surrounding counties are steeped in the history and growth of the
American colonies during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. One may visit the homes of three of
America's early presidents, Madison, Monroe and Jefferson, with Thomas Jefferson's Monticello
just 8 miles down the road from Lake Monticello and James Monroe's Ashlawn-Highlands just 1
mile closer.
Home to more than 8 major performing arts venues within the city, audiences may see emerging local
artists or major label recording artists and productions such as The Rolling Stones or Cirque du
Soleil. Within an hour's drive, you may attend Shakespeare productions in the American Shakespeare
Center Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton or outdoor concerts and theater productions at the Limekiln
in Lexington.
Charlottesville is home to the University of Virginia, Thomas Jefferson's, creation and labor
of love as he originally designed his "educational village."
Monticello, AVA- American Viticulture Area
Another of Thomas Jefferson's great passions was to create a world-class wine industry in
Virginia. As the birthplace of American wines, today, the Monticello AVA is the crown-jewel of
Virginia's wine industry and is home to some of Virginia's best award-winning boutique wineries.
Nestled in the foothills and along the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you'll find exquisitely
terraced vineyards taking full advantage of the terrain and the terroir. This region's most
notable varietals are, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with
each vineyard specializing in their own uniquely named blends.
Add a Day of Exploration
Exploring the Monticello Wine Trail-
Join me for a ride through the countryside for a wine-tasting tour to some of my favorite
wineries. I'll pack a gourmet picnic lunch and we'll match it with a bottle you choose from our
tasting. If we're lucky, we can spend time chatting with the owner or the vintner and take a tour
through the vineyard. Depending on the time of year, we might even catch them during harvest season
or the bottling process.
We return home for another fabulous gourmet dinner, perhaps paired with a local bottle of wine.
Stay the extra night and top off your visit with one last gourmet breakfast before you travel.
Includes all tasting fees, picnic lunch, dinner, breakfast and extra
night's stay. $250.
